The White House has announced that high-level talks between the United States and Iran are scheduled to take place on Tuesday in Doha, the capital of Qatar. Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said that Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy, and Jared Kushner will participate in the negotiations.
According to Leavitt, in addition to the high-level political discussions, technical meetings will continue to address the implementation of the agreement between the two countries.
She emphasized that the United States remains committed to its ceasefire obligations but warned that any escalation of tensions would be met with a proportionate response.
The United States and Iran signed a 14-point agreement on June 17 aimed at ending four months of conflict and reopening the Strait of Hormuz. However, reciprocal attacks over the past week have raised concerns about the durability of the fragile agreement.
