Donald Trump also told reporters that Russia must reach an agreement. He stated that the country had suffered heavy losses during the war, while Ukraine had also experienced significant damage.

The U.S. President further announced that he would hold a separate meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky later in the summit to discuss developments in the war and related issues.

The most recent prior meeting between Zelensky and Trump took place in January 2026, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.
