Sources from the Torkham Customs Office say that 73 containers of United Nations food assistance have been transported into Afghanistan over the past few days, while customs clearance procedures for an additional 13 containers are currently underway.
According to the sources, these containers entered Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing over the past week. United Nations-affiliated agencies, particularly the World Food Programme (WFP), along with other humanitarian organizations, are involved in the transportation of these aid supplies.
Customs officials state that a total of 1,000 containers of food supplies are scheduled to be delivered to Afghanistan as part of humanitarian assistance efforts. The government of Pakistan and the Taliban administration have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of these aid shipments.
The report indicates that the delivery of the assistance began on July 14 and is expected to be distributed among vulnerable families in various affected areas of Afghanistan, particularly in Nangarhar, Kunar, and surrounding provinces.
The aid package includes specialized nutritional products for children and mothers at risk of malnutrition, dietary supplements, vegetable oil, and fortified biscuits.
