Summary

Shamsu Bibi, a 28-year-old Pakistani TikToker who was active on the social media platform under the names Ayesha and Gileman, was shot dead by armed motorcycle riders in Rawalpindi. Her 15-year-old sister was also injured in the attack.

Rawalpindi police said the incident took place on Friday afternoon, 14th August, in the Taxila area. According to police, Shamsu Bibi was travelling in a private vehicle with her sister and brother when armed assailants opened fire on their car.

The attackers fled the scene following the shooting. Shamsu Bibi’s 15-year-old sister was wounded in the attack and was taken to a medical facility for treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, the motive behind the killing, and the identification of those responsible.

Shamsu Bibi’s father filed a complaint with police, stating that the family is originally from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and currently resides in the Faisal Hills area near Islamabad. He also said that his daughter had been active on TikTok for approximately three to four years and had nearly 1.3 million followers.

According to the complaint, two individuals have been named as suspects in the murder case. Shamsu Bibi’s father said that his daughter had financial dealings with the two men, identified as Javed and Kausar, and had previously received death threats in connection with the repayment of money.

Rawalpindi police said they are investigating these allegations along with other evidence related to the case. No further details have so far been released regarding the arrest of the suspects or the outcome of the investigation.

This is not the first killing of a TikToker in the area. Rawalpindi police said that a TikToker named Ali Raza was also killed near the same area in July. However, authorities have not indicated any possible connection between the two incidents.

In a similar incident, Sana Javed, a Pakistani TikToker known as “Awat Lofara,” was shot dead in Islamabad on 2 Hamal this year. At the time, police said that Muhammad Sadiq, Sana’s husband, was the prime suspect in the killing and had died by suicide at the scene after the shooting.

Police have yet to reach a final conclusion regarding the motive behind Shamsu Bibi’s killing or the identities of those responsible for the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, and further details are expected to be released once the authorities complete their inquiries.
