The Taliban’s police command in Herat says that the wife of a murdered man and two other men have been arrested in connection with his killing in Guzara district of the province.
Sayed Masoud Hosseini, spokesperson for the Taliban’s police command in Herat, told “Radio Police” that the suspects confessed during preliminary investigations to their involvement in the murder.
According to Hosseini, a man named Ismail was abducted on Sunday, 4 Asad, by occupants of a vehicle from the Guzar-e J7 area, within the jurisdiction of Police District 8 in Herat city.
He said that after two days had passed, Ismail’s family reported his disappearance to the Taliban, prompting a search for him. Following investigations and search efforts, Ismail’s body was discovered in the Koh-e Mullah Asfand area of Guzara district.
Hosseini said that two men, identified as Masoud and Saif-ur-Rahman, were arrested in connection with the incident. He added that the vehicle allegedly used in Ismail’s abduction was also seized from the two men at the time of their arrest.
The Taliban police spokesperson in Herat further said that the suspects confessed to the charges during initial interrogations. Investigations also revealed, he said, that Ismail’s wife was involved in the incident.
The victim’s wife and the two men remain in custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the killing and the role of each of the detained individuals.
According to Hosseini, the victim’s wife also confirmed during preliminary questioning that Masoud and Saif-ur-Rahman were involved in her husband’s murder and provided information regarding the existence of family disputes.
