Nasir Sadaqat, head of the Afghanistan national futsal team, has confirmed that “Dejan Djevojic” from Serbia has been appointed as the new head coach of the Afghanistan national futsal team.

Mr. Sadaqat stated that the new futsal coach and members of the team’s new technical staff arrived in Kabul today (Friday, 29 Jawza) to sign their contracts.

He added that Javad Asghari Moghadam from Iran has been appointed as assistant technical coach, Reza Samayi from Iran as goalkeeping coach, “Joa” from Brazil as analyst, and “Rio Samana” from Spain as assistant coach of the national futsal team.

According to Sadaqat, these individuals will officially sign contracts with the Afghanistan Football Federation in the coming days.

Dejan Djevojic succeeds Majid Mortazavi, the Iranian head coach of the Afghanistan national futsal team, whose contract recently expired.

In recent years, the Afghanistan national futsal team achieved remarkable progress under the coaching of Majid Mortazavi and recorded significant accomplishments.

Under Mortazavi’s leadership, the Afghan futsal team qualified for the AFC Futsal Asian Cup and subsequently for the FIFA Futsal World Cup for the first time in 2024.

In the FIFA Futsal World Cup, the Afghanistan national team advanced from the group stage to the Round of 16, but was eliminated at that stage.

The national futsal team also participated in this year’s AFC Futsal Asian Cup, where it reached the quarter-finals but was ultimately eliminated after a defeat to Japan.
