The United Afghanistan Front said on Saturday that its forces had killed a member of the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in an attack at a park in the Aino Mina township in Kandahar city.
The front also released a video purportedly showing the moment of the attack. In the video, a motorcyclist is seen opening fire on a man wearing a white chapan, similar to the clothing worn by officials of the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
The United Afghanistan Front claimed that officials of the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice engage in violent treatment of young people, including beating, torturing and humiliating them. The front said that, from now on, such officials would be included on its forces’ list of military targets.
The group also said that the attack on the Taliban official was the first action carried out by United Afghanistan Front forces against officials of the ministry.
The Taliban has not yet commented on the reported killing of the Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice member or on the United Afghanistan Front’s claim regarding the attack.
