The Afghanistan Power Company has announced that it has terminated its contract with one of the major electronic payment service networks. As a result, electricity bill payments via “M-Paisa” will no longer be permitted.
The statement further says that no individual, representative, or affiliated center is authorized to collect payments from electricity consumers on behalf of “M-Paisa.” The company emphasized that all such transactions are now considered unofficial.
Officials have strongly urged the public not to visit “M-Paisa” centers for electricity bill payments, as the use of this service has been discontinued. The company also stated that it bears no responsibility for any potential financial issues arising from such transactions.
Previously, electricity consumers in the country could conveniently pay their bills not only through banks but also via “M-Paisa” and several other digital services. However, under the new decision, only official banking channels and company-approved payment methods will be considered valid.
This change is intended to enhance control and transparency in the Afghanistan Power Company’s financial transactions and to prevent unofficial collection practices.
