Sultan Rahimzoda, Chairman of Tajikistan’s State Committee for Investment and State Property Management, has reported a rise in women’s participation in the country’s economy. According to him, women entrepreneurs now account for 27.8 percent of all economic operators in Tajikistan, with their number exceeding 108,000.
Speaking at a press conference attended by local and foreign journalists, Rahimzoda said that a large number of women entrepreneurs are active in sectors including manufacturing, light industry, agriculture, handicrafts, and small and medium-sized enterprises. He emphasized that these women play an important role in the country’s economic growth and development.
The chairman of the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management also stated that financial and credit institutions in Tajikistan have provided approximately $402 million in loans to women entrepreneurs during this period. He added that this figure represents a 26.4 percent increase compared with the same period last year.
Meanwhile, officials from the city administration of Dushanbe announced at a press conference reviewing the capital’s economic and social development during the first six months of the current year that more than 15,500 women entrepreneurs are currently operating in the city.
Dushanbe officials emphasized that supporting women entrepreneurs remains one of the government’s key policy priorities. They said that educational programs, consulting services, preferential loans, and support for home-based businesses continue to be implemented. According to them, these initiatives have contributed to creating new employment opportunities and strengthening the economic sustainability of the capital.
