The Afghanistan Media Support Organization (AMSO) has expressed concern over the disrespectful behavior of an official from the Nangarhar Department of Information and Culture toward journalists. The organization stated that this incident occurred during the traditional poetry event “Gul Narenj.”
According to AMSO’s report, the incident took place on Tuesday, 15th of Sawr, while audio equipment was being set up. It is reported that the official used inappropriate and offensive language against journalists from the stage and in front of the participants.
AMSO described this behavior as contrary to professional media standards and inconsistent with freedom of expression, emphasizing that insulting journalists is, in fact, a disrespect to citizens’ right to access information.
The organization also supported the decision of some journalists to refrain from covering the event, describing it as a civil and understandable reaction.
