Mawlawi Mohammad Ismail Ghaznawi, the Taliban-appointed governor of Badakhshan, has warned the Taliban’s opponents that they will “take to the grave” their dreams of destabilizing the Islamic system and Afghanistan.
Ghaznawi made the remarks at a poetry gathering and ceremony held to mark the anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power.
He said: “I openly tell the enemies that if you dream of disrupting the Islamic system or destabilizing Afghanistan, God willing, you will take these dreams with you to the grave.”
The Taliban governor of Badakhshan made the remarks as attacks by armed groups opposing the Taliban have recently increased in the province.
According to reports, armed opposition groups, particularly the National Resistance Front, have intensified their attacks in Zebak, while the Homeland Defenders group has increased its operations in Kosh Yiftal. Meanwhile, the United Front has also launched guerrilla attacks against the Taliban in southern Afghanistan and other areas.
The attacks come as the Taliban prepares to mark the fifth year of its rule.
