China has officially assumed the rotating presidency of the United Nations Security Council for the month of May. This responsibility began on Friday and is part of the rotational system among the council’s members.
Fu Cong, China’s representative to the United Nations, stated that the country’s main priorities during its presidency will be “restoring the authority of the UN Charter” and “strengthening the role of this international body.” He emphasized the importance of cooperation among members to address global challenges.
The presidency of the Security Council rotates monthly among its members, and the country holding this responsibility plays a key role in setting the agenda for meetings and managing discussions on international peace and security.
