China’s ministry of foreign affairs has announced that Yue Xiaoyong, China’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, has traveled to Pakistan, Türkiye, and Afghanistan to discuss issues related to Afghanistan and regional concerns.
According to China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he met with relevant officials in these countries from July 30 to August 8. In Türkiye, he held talks with the official responsible for South Asian affairs at the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on matters of shared concern.
China says its special envoy also discussed with officials in Pakistan and Afghanistan ways to improve and strengthen relations between Kabul and Islamabad.
The visit comes at a time when relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan are facing security and political tensions.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and Türkiye have stepped up joint efforts to expand their defense and security ties, making coordination between the two countries on Afghanistan an increasingly significant regional issue.
