Construction of a mineral processing plant by a Chinese investor in Bamiyan.

A Chinese trader and investor, Sao Jin, has stated during a meeting with Gul Haidar Shafaq, the Taliban-appointed governor of Bamiyan, that he is interested in investing in iron and copper extraction, as well as establishing an industrial processing plant for mineral products in the province.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Taliban media office for Bamiyan said that the two sides discussed the extraction, processing, and marketing of iron and copper.

According to the statement, Sao Jin said that together with his delegation, he intends to invest in the extraction of iron and copper, the processing of mineral resources, and their marketing, with the aim of strengthening Bamiyan’s economic capacity and promoting economic growth. He also plans to establish an industrial factory in the province.

Meanwhile, the Taliban governor of Bamiyan welcomed the investor’s proposal and assured him that the security of both domestic and foreign investors is ensured in the province, and that the local administration will support economic projects that benefit the public.

However, the statement did not specify when the potential investment would begin, where the factory would be built, or the total scale of the investment.
