Daoud Naji, head of the political committee of the Afghanistan Freedom Front, says the group’s armed forces are continuing their activities against the Taliban through two different forms of warfare: direct combat and guerrilla operations.
In a statement, Naji said the Freedom Front’s commando forces are engaged in direct, frontline clashes with Taliban forces, while the group’s guerrilla units continue to carry out operations as before.
According to him, the Freedom Front’s forces engaging in direct combat does not mean that guerrilla operations will be halted; rather, both types of military activities will be conducted simultaneously.
Naji made the remarks as the Freedom Front has in recent weeks claimed responsibility for a number of attacks on Taliban checkpoints and military installations and has also reported clashes with Taliban forces in Badakhshan.
The Taliban have repeatedly denied that the activities of armed opposition groups pose a serious threat to their rule.
