A carpet depicting scenes related to the September 11 attacks in the U.S. state of California has sparked reactions from some of the victims’ families.
The carpet, displayed at the shop “Tribal Carpets and Arts” in Santa Barbara by an Afghan trader and priced at $450, portrays the collision of two airplanes with the Twin Towers. In other parts of the carpet, images of the Afghanistan war and the date “03-03-19” can also be seen.
According to the New York Post, some of the September 11 victims’ families said that displaying such a piece could reopen painful memories of the event and be distressing for survivors.
On the other hand, the shop owner, Masoud Azizi, stated that the piece was in no way created or offered to glorify the attacks but rather reflects a historical event and was imported from Afghanistan.
