Taliban Ministry of Information and Culture’s Deputy for Publications, Mohajer Farahi, has responded to recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who stated that the United States should regain control of Bagram Air Base. Farahi said that Bagram is fully under the control of the Taliban and will not be taken out of their hands.
He added that the Bagram Air Base is currently under Taliban control and that Trump’s hope of reclaiming the base will remain only a dream.
Bagram Air Base, which was regarded as the most important military facility for the United States and its allies following the September 11, 2001 attacks, played a central role in international military operations in Afghanistan for nearly two decades. The base came under Taliban control after the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan in 2021.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump has repeatedly emphasized in recent months that the United States should have retained Bagram Air Base because of its strategic location. According to Trump, the base holds significant importance due to its proximity to China and Iran.
Although the Taliban have rejected any U.S. claims regarding Bagram, discussions about Afghanistan’s political situation following the Doha Agreement and the commitments made by both sides continue.
