Summary

Local sources say that a former National Security Directorate (NDS) employee was killed by unidentified gunmen on Thursday evening in Daikundi province.

Sources told the media on Friday, 26 Saratan, that the former security officer, identified as Mohammad Ali Toofan, was targeted by unknown armed men in the “Kata Sang” area of Shahristan district in Daikundi and was killed.

It is reported that Taliban intelligence forces had previously detained Mohammad Ali Toofan several times, but he was released after local residents provided guarantees for him.

The incident comes after another former security officer, Yaser Behzad, was also killed earlier.

The incident has raised serious concerns among residents of Daikundi. According to sources, nighttime patrols by Taliban forces in villages across the province have further increased public fear and anxiety.

Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, a large number of former Afghan security personnel have been detained, tortured, and, in some cases, killed by fighters of the group.
