The Afghanistan Freedom Front has claimed that it carried out an armed attack on a Taliban checkpoint in the vicinity of Khewa district in Nangarhar province, along the Jalalabad–Kunar highway.
According to the group, the attack took place on Wednesday night after midnight, resulting in the death of three Taliban members and serious injuries to two others.
The Freedom Front further states that its continued guerrilla operations in the eastern provinces have caused concern and confusion within Taliban ranks. It describes this attack as part of that ongoing campaign.
This comes as the Freedom Front has, for the first time, claimed responsibility for attacks against the Taliban in Afghanistan’s eastern provinces.
The Taliban have so far not issued any official response regarding the attack or the claims made by the Freedom Front.
