The German government has confirmed that it has accepted four additional Taliban diplomats, who are expected to arrive in the country in the coming days.
According to a report by Deutsche Welle, the decision was made to facilitate the deportation process of Afghan asylum seekers who have been convicted in criminal cases and are to be returned to Afghanistan.
Previously, the German Chancellor had emphasized that Berlin would not normalize relations with the Taliban. However, the acceptance of these diplomats has drawn criticism from some Afghans and human rights activists.
Critics argue that such measures could contribute to the international legitimization and normalization of the Taliban, and they are calling on the international community to refrain from any efforts to normalize relations with the group.
