Germany’s Federal ministry of the interior says it has deported 22 Afghan nationals accused of involvement in criminal offenses in the country to Kabul on a special charter flight.
According to the ministry, the deportation process was “successfully” completed. With this latest deportation, the number of Afghan nationals deported to Afghanistan since the beginning of the current German government’s term has reached 250.
According to a spokesperson for Germany’s Interior Ministry, those deported on the flight faced various allegations, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, aggravated theft, violent extortion, aggravated physical assault, and serious arson.
The German government announced in June this year that it intended to expand the deportation of Afghan nationals who had committed crimes in Germany. The Interior Ministry said at the time that, if necessary, up to three charter flights could be operated each month.
To facilitate the process, Germany has also recently accepted several Taliban diplomats. Four Taliban diplomats have arrived in Berlin in recent days.
