Taus, a 26-year-old married woman from Daikundi province, says that a man, “with the support of the Taliban,” is trying to force her into a second marriage and marry her by coercion. She says that out of fear of being detained by the Taliban and forced into a second marriage, she is now living in hiding.

According to her, she was engaged in 1399 (2020–2021) and got married in the month of Tila 1404 (October 2025), but a few months after the wedding, an armed Pashtun man came to their home and claimed to be her husband.

Taus says that after this man filed a complaint with the Taliban court, the Taliban courts in Ashtarlay district, Daikundi, arrested her relatives.

According to the information, the Taliban security command in Ashtarlay district detained her father for 24 days, from 13 to 7 Wray. Her husband’s brother was held for 14 days, from 7 to 20 Wray, and her father-in-law was detained for 4 days.

Mawlawi Elham, a Taliban judge in Ashtarlay district, confirmed the arrest of these individuals in an interview with a local media outlet.

Taus says that on Wednesday, 23 Wray, the Taliban released her father-in-law from prison under the guarantee of local elders, but she and her family still remain concerned and continue to live in hiding due to fear of a potential forced marriage.
