India says it is closely monitoring the “Mecca Joint Defence Agreement” between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan.
Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, said at a press briefing on Saturday that New Delhi is closely monitoring the agreement between the three countries and that further updates would be shared.
He declined to provide additional details about the agreement.
Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan signed the defence agreement in Mecca on Friday. Under the agreement, an armed attack against any one of the member states will be considered an attack against all three member states.
The agreement was signed during a meeting of the leaders of the three countries on joint defence, attended by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
