Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesperson for Iran’s ministry of foreign affairs, says that “more dangerous than a bomb is the normalization of bombing, and more dangerous than silence is turning silence into legitimacy.”
Baghaei made the remarks (Wednesday, 11 Sonbola), in response to a United States attack on Sirik, in which a number of civilians are reportedly said to have been killed and wounded. He criticized what he described as the silence and justification of some governments and international institutions.
In a statement posted on X, Baghaei said: “Tonight, a residential home in Kuhestak, Sirik, was brutally attacked while families were celebrating a wedding. More than 50 innocent men, women, and children were martyred or wounded.”
Baghaei added: “More dangerous than a bomb is the normalization of bombing, and more dangerous than silence is turning silence into legitimacy.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson criticized what he described as the silence and normalization of what he called a crime.
He said that “silence” in the face of such attacks does not constitute “neutrality,” and that “justifying” them carries consequences.
Criticizing governments and international institutions that remain silent or seek to justify U.S. attacks against Iran, Baghaei said: “Turning a blind eye to injustice does not contain it; rather, it only emboldens those responsible.”
Esmaeil Baghaei warned that “Iran will respond decisively to these heinous crimes.”
