Iran’s Ministry of Health has announced that at least 50 people have been killed and more than 500 others injured as a result of attacks attributed to the United States over the past three weeks. According to the ministry, the casualties include women and children.
Hossein Kermanpour, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Health, said in a statement released today, Saturday, July 18, that the figures cover the period from June 27 to July 18. According to the ministry’s data, 50 people were killed and more than 500 were injured.
Kermanpour stated that the fatalities include five women and two children. He added that 32 women and 18 adolescents are among the injured, while 37 of the wounded remain hospitalized due to the severity of their injuries.
Meanwhile, U.S. officials have stated that no American military personnel have been killed or wounded in the recent attacks attributed to Iran.
On Friday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that its strike on the U.S. military base at Al-Tanf in Syria resulted in numerous American casualties. However, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) rejected the claim in an official statement.
At the same time, CBS News reported early Saturday that several U.S. service members were injured in an Iranian attack on Al Azraq Air Base in Jordan. U.S. officials have not yet provided further details regarding the report.
The latest round of hostilities between Iran and the United States began last Sunday and has now entered its seventh consecutive day, with political and military tensions between the two countries continuing to escalate.
U.S. President Donald Trump had previously stated that “a memorandum is merely a document, and I can resume the bombing whenever I choose.” In response, Iranian officials have declared that the agreement which had led to a ceasefire and a halt in hostilities is no longer valid.
Kazem Gharibabadi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, announced today that Tehran has suspended the implementation of all of its commitments under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding. According to him, the decision was made after the United States, through its recent actions, violated all of its obligations under the agreement.
