Summary

Local sources in the provinces of Kandahar and Khost say that in two separate traffic incidents, six members of the ruling group, including the Taliban’s chief judge for Khost province, were killed.

According to the sources, in the first incident, which occurred on the Kandahar–Spin Boldak highway, five members of the Taliban’s special forces lost their lives. The accident took place yesterday on a busy section of the Spin Boldak route.

Local sources added that the crash was so severe that the vehicle carrying the individuals was completely destroyed. So far, no further details have been released regarding the exact cause of the accident or the types of vehicles involved, but sources confirmed that the victims were affiliated with the ruling group’s special forces.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on the Kabul–Khost highway, the Taliban’s chief judge for Khost province was also killed. According to sources, several of his companions were injured in the accident.

Local Taliban officials in Khost confirmed the death of the group’s chief judge but did not provide further details about the incident. At the same time, local authorities in Kandahar have not yet officially commented on the accident on the Kandahar–Spin Boldak highway.

The Kandahar–Spin Boldak and Kabul–Khost highways are considered important transit and trade routes in Afghanistan and witness dozens of deadly traffic accidents every year. Local residents say that speeding, poor road conditions, the lack of standard traffic signs, and driver negligence are among the main causes of the increasing number of accidents on these routes.

In recent years, the rise in traffic accidents on Afghanistan’s highways has caused widespread concern among citizens. Experts say that the lack of organized traffic management, weak road infrastructure, and limited emergency response facilities are among the key factors contributing to the high number of road fatalities in the country.
