The national resistance front calls for investigation into Taliban’s treatment of Hasib Panjshiri’s body.

Afghanistan’s national resistance front (NRF) has called on the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) and international human rights organizations to investigate what it described as the “disrespectful treatment” of the body of Hasib Panjshiri, a slain commander of the group, by Taliban forces.

Abdullah Khunjani, head of the NRF’s political office, said in a post on X on Sunday that the treatment of the commander’s body constituted a serious violation of international humanitarian law, particularly Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions.

Khunjani added that such actions could, under international law, constitute a “war crime,” stressing the need to uphold human dignity and humanitarian principles in the treatment of the dead.

The NRF political office chief also called for an immediate independent investigation, documentation of the incident, and identification of those allegedly responsible so that, if violations are established, those responsible can be held accountable.
