A counterterrorism court in Balochistan has sentenced Mahrang Baloch, the leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), and Sibghatullah, another senior member of the movement, to life imprisonment.
According to the prosecution and the court’s ruling, Mahrang Baloch was found responsible for a stone-throwing incident that occurred during the “Raji Muchi” gathering in Gwadar, in which a member of the Frontier Corps (FC) was injured and later died.
Under the court’s decision, both leaders will serve life sentences in connection with the case.
Mahrang Baloch and Sibghatullah have been in custody since 2025. Neither they nor their lawyers have yet issued an official response to the court’s latest ruling.
Meanwhile, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee has consistently maintained that its activities are peaceful and aimed at protecting human rights in Balochistan, opposing enforced disappearances, and defending the civil rights of local communities. The movement rejects the allegations against its members and says its struggle remains nonviolent.
