Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, said that all NATO member countries agree with Washington that Iran must not obtain nuclear weapons because, according to him, the country is considered a threat to peace and already possesses missiles capable of reaching Europe.
Rubio’s remarks were published by the official X account of the U.S. Department of State. Speaking about the position of NATO allies, he said: “All NATO countries agree with us that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons. This regime is a threat to peace and already has missiles that can reach Europe.”
He added that the United States had taken action on this issue, but according to him, some allies “backed away” after the reactions.
Rubio stated: “We decided to act, and everyone went and hid. Yes, we were unhappy with this situation.”
These comments come at a time when the United States and its European allies share concerns about Iran’s nuclear program and the regional security situation, although disagreements have occasionally emerged regarding practical measures and military coordination.
