Summary

Shah Mahmoud Miakhel, the former acting Minister of Defense of Afghanistan, has strongly criticized the Taliban, saying that their current situation resembles the story of “Mullah Nasruddin,” who is riding a donkey backwards and heading toward an unknown destination.

Miakhel said that the Taliban have neither popular legitimacy nor international legitimacy. According to him, Afghanistan is facing severe political isolation, widespread poverty, and growing public dissatisfaction, while resentment toward the Taliban is increasing day by day.

He added: “The people have grown fed up with the Taliban.”
