Mohsen Rezaei, a military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, has warned against the continued naval blockade of Iranian ports by the United States, stating that Tehran will not tolerate the situation continuing.
In a message posted on the social media platform X early Tuesday, August 4, Rezaei wrote: “If the blockade continues, American vessels and forces will face serious risks and casualties.” He made the remarks in response to the ongoing U.S. naval presence and activities in the region.
The Iranian military adviser also stressed that the United States must change its approach, adding: “We will never allow the creation of a second corridor in the Strait of Hormuz.” He did not provide further details on what he meant by the statement.
According to the report, the United States resumed its naval blockade of Iranian ports in July after the collapse of a memorandum of understanding signed in June between Tehran and Washington regarding the management of the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. military has also stated that since the operation resumed, it has diverted at least 44 vessels, disabled two ships, and inspected two other vessels.
So far, U.S. officials have not issued a new response to Mohsen Rezaei’s remarks, and no further details have been released regarding the current status of the naval blockade or the possibility of renewed negotiations between the two sides.
