According to the latest figures released by Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency, Afghan citizens made the highest number of business trips to Uzbekistan compared with nationals of other countries during the first six months of 2026.
The agency reported that a total of 228,600 foreign citizens traveled to Uzbekistan for business purposes during this period, of whom 205,937 were Afghan nationals.
The statistics show that after Afghans, citizens of Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Türkiye recorded the highest number of business visits to Uzbekistan.
Analysts believe that due to growing tensions in relations between the Taliban and Pakistan, as well as the closure of some trade routes, many Afghan traders have increasingly turned to Central Asian countries particularly Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan for their commercial activities.
