Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban, says that four civilians were killed in recent Pakistani airstrikes on the provinces of Kandahar, Paktia, and Khost.
In a statement issued on Thursday, September 23, Mujahid condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes on Afghanistan, describing them as “blatant aggression” and a violation of established principles and laws.
He said such attacks provoke public anger in Afghanistan and warned that continued actions of this nature could have “serious consequences” for Pakistani forces.
The Taliban spokesperson added that a response would be given “at an appropriate time” to what he described as “aggression and attacks” by Pakistani forces. He also rejected claims by Pakistani officials that drones had crossed from Afghanistan into Pakistan, saying that such allegations could not justify airstrikes on Afghan territory.
Mujahid further characterized statements by Pakistani military officials as an attempt to justify the country’s internal problems.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Information Minister confirmed that the country had carried out airstrikes on 10 locations in Afghanistan. Without specifying the locations, he said the strikes targeted facilities used to launch and store drones.
