Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesperson, claimed that Pakistan’s airstrikes against Afghanistan are an attempt to evade its commitments under the “Security Pact of Mecca” with Saudi Arabia.
Speaking Thursday at a religious school in Kandahar, Mujahid said that the Taliban had taken no action that could provide Pakistan with grounds to attack Afghanistan. He also rejected Pakistani officials’ allegations that drone attacks had been carried out from Afghan territory, stating that if the Taliban were to conduct such attacks, it would openly acknowledge responsibility, and the targets of the attacks would also be made clear.
