Summary

Local sources in Herat say that unidentified gunmen shot and killed a man near the entrance to the Taliban’s police headquarters in the province. The incident took place on Monday, 19 Asad.

According to the sources, the victim, identified as Noman, was the son of Abdul Rahman Moradi, a former member of the Herat Provincial Council. The sources did not provide further details about the identity of the perpetrators or their motive.

The sources added that Noman came under fire from unidentified gunmen while passing through the entrance to the Taliban’s police headquarters in Herat and was killed in the attack.

Meanwhile, sources in Kabul have also reported the killing of four Hazara youths in the Dasht-e-Barchi area. In response, the Taliban said that those killed were “armed robbers,” a claim about which local sources have provided differing accounts.

The incidents were reported as the Taliban continue to emphasize their commitment to maintaining security across Afghanistan. However, continued reports of killings and armed incidents have raised concerns about the security situation and the ability of Taliban forces to prevent armed crime.
