Pakistani police have detained 121 Afghan citizens during a search operation in the city of Lahore.
On Saturday, July 18, Pakistani media reported that after verifying the identity documents of the detainees, 28 Afghan citizens holding legal residency permits were released.
According to the report, 93 Afghan citizens who lacked legal residency documents have been transferred to a holding facility in Lahore for further legal proceedings.
This incident comes amid an escalation in the detention, deportation, and repatriation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan in recent months, fueled by ongoing tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan.
Human rights organizations have previously expressed concern over the violent treatment of Afghan migrants in certain countries, including Pakistan and Iran, calling for the respect of their human rights and dignity.
Meanwhile, the Taliban announced that 3,753 individuals entered Afghanistan through various border crossings yesterday. According to the group, these individuals were transferred back to Afghanistan after returning from neighboring countries.
