Pakistani security sources have stated that the country’s forces detected two rudimentary drones approximately seven kilometers from the city of Kohat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and brought them down using electronic warfare capabilities. According to these sources, the drones had been sent from Afghanistan by the Taliban.
According to Pakistani sources, the drones were neutralized by air defense systems after entering Pakistani airspace. Meanwhile, the Afghan Taliban have not yet issued an official response to the Pakistani military’s claim.
The incident comes two days after the Pakistani military carried out airstrikes in Afghanistan’s border regions, including Kunar and Paktika. According to United Nations officials and Taliban authorities, the strikes also resulted in civilian casualties.
Pakistan says the airstrikes targeted bases belonging to armed groups, while Taliban officials have condemned the attacks.
