Recent images of the Taliban mayor in Kabul; inspection of infrastructure projects following the publication of arrest reports
New images of Abdul Rashid, the Taliban mayor of Kabul, have been released showing him inspecting several infrastructure projects. The publication of these images comes amid earlier reports in some media outlets and social media platforms alleging his possible arrest on charges of financial corruption.
According to the published images, Abdul Rashid visited the progress of the Kabul–Logar road project and was briefed on its implementation status. Taliban officials have so far not issued any clear or official statement regarding reports of his alleged arrest.
In recent weeks, some media outlets and social media users had claimed that the Taliban mayor of Kabul had been arrested on charges of corruption. However, no official documents or confirmations have been released by Taliban authorities in this regard.
Critics of the Taliban say that the group’s official institutions typically do not provide transparent or consistent communication regarding reports related to internal disputes or potential corruption cases. According to them, this lack of transparency contributes to speculation and ambiguity in public opinion.
