Herat – A local source has told the media that Taliban forces have once again detained dozens of young women and girls in various parts of Herat city today.
According to the information received, the detained women and girls were gathered from different areas of the city and transferred to undisclosed locations. Local sources have described the current situation in Herat as concerning, stating that the widespread presence of armed forces across the city has created an atmosphere of fear and anxiety among residents.
Eyewitnesses say Taliban forces have been deployed in various parts of the city and are detaining women without regard to their form of dress. Reports indicate that even women wearing full coverings and protective clothing in public spaces have not been exempt from these arrests.
Local sources say the detained women were transported in groups into military vehicles and large transport trucks before being taken to unknown destinations. Armed individuals on motorcycles have also been patrolling different parts of the city and participating in the operation.
Witnesses emphasize that all personnel involved in the operation were armed, and their extensive presence has intensified a climate of fear and concern among city residents.
According to local sources, these arrests are not limited to any specific ethnicity, religion, or group, and women from various backgrounds and districts of Herat have been targeted.
As of the time of publication, Taliban authorities have not commented on the reasons for these arrests, the exact number of detainees, or their place of detention.
