During the era of the republican system, former First Vice President Amrullah Saleh, without mentioning the name of the Pakistani military, said that they previously conspired against Afghanistan’s legitimate system, but are now plotting against a group that is illegitimate and close to terrorism.
Saleh wrote on his X account that those who once conspired against Afghanistan’s legitimate republican system did so because that system was legitimate and maintained close relations with the international community. According to him, the same side is now also conspiring against the Taliban government, as he considers it illegitimate and linked to terrorism.
He also asked: “Is there any option they would prefer? Can they clearly state what they want?” In conclusion, Saleh added: “Who are they, in the first place?”
These remarks came after the spokesperson for the Pakistani military stated at a press briefing that Pakistan has had, and continues to have, problems with both the former republican government of Afghanistan and the current Taliban administration.
