The European Union’s representative in Afghanistan, Veronica Pohar Boskovic, traveled to Panjshir Province on Monday and met with local Taliban officials.
Panjshir Governor’s spokesperson, Saifuddin Laton, said that during her meeting with the province’s governor, Mohammad Agha Hakim, Boskovic discussed the security situation as well as Panjshir’s development needs.
According to him, the EU representative said that the European Union plans to implement a number of new projects in the agriculture and healthcare sectors in Panjshir. She also said that €6 million has been allocated to support the Panjshir Emergency Hospital.
Meanwhile, during discussions on the province’s needs, the governor of Panjshir called for prioritizing agricultural development, the construction of irrigation canals, the rehabilitation of retaining walls, and the construction of roads and bridges.
The two sides also discussed continued cooperation to strengthen healthcare, agriculture, and infrastructure in Panjshir.
