In Switzerland, the first round of high-level talks between Iran and the United States has concluded, but it remains unclear when the next round of negotiations will begin. According to reports, the Iranian negotiating delegation has suspended the talks in response to recent statements and threats made by U.S. President Donald Trump.
The negotiations began in the Bürgenstock area near the city of Lucerne, Switzerland, and were aimed at reducing tensions and discussing key political and security issues between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump warned Iran on his Truth Social platform that it must halt the activities of its proxy groups in Lebanon or face a strong response. He emphasized that if Tehran does not control its allied forces, the United States will take more severe measures.
Iranian state media have claimed that Trump’s remarks have damaged the atmosphere of the talks, leading the Iranian delegation to suspend the negotiations in protest. No specific date has yet been announced for the resumption of the talks.
