The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban, in a statement, strongly condemned the attack on a café in the Syrian capital, Damascus, describing it as a reprehensible act against civilians.
The statement said that attacks against civilians are contrary to Islamic and human values, and that such incidents constitute a serious concern and threat to Syria’s security and stability.
However, the Taliban’s statement did not refer to attacks over the past twenty years in Afghanistan that were carried out against civilians in markets, mosques, schools, and highways, nor did it clarify whether it also considers those attacks to be contrary to Islam and humanity.
Likewise, the Syrian government has so far not issued any official position regarding the 13 Pakistani airstrikes in Afghanistan and the resulting civilian casualties.
