Local sources say that the Taliban have collected around 250 weapons belonging to individuals affiliated with Jumma Khan Fateh in Nasi district of Badakhshan.
Sources told the media on Friday, 30 Asad, that the weapons include various types of light and heavy arms, and that the Taliban’s collection operation is still ongoing.
According to the sources, the weapons collected so far include eight DShK machine guns, nine PKM machine guns, 20 rocket launchers, 15 M4 rifles, two Zikoyik rifles, two cannons, and three mortars.
The sources added that a commission comprising the Taliban-appointed district governor and the group’s police commander in Nasi is present in the Kharkad area and is overseeing the weapons-collection process.
The Taliban have given members of Jumma Khan Fateh’s group three days to hand over the remaining weapons.
This comes as tensions continue in Badakhshan. Anti-Taliban fronts, including the Afghanistan Freedom Front, reported last night that they had continued their attacks against the Taliban.
