According to several sources, officials from the Taliban’s Ministry for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice in Kandahar Province allegedly killed a young man for shaving his beard.
The sources claim that Taliban members confined the young man inside a heated shipping container and bound his mouth shut. He is said to have died from extreme heat and suffocation.
The sources further allege that, in the final moments of his life, the young man struggled and screamed in an attempt to free himself, but Taliban members reportedly mocked his cries.
A relative of the deceased stated that the Taliban later abandoned his body in the Aino Mina area of Kandahar, with his hands and mouth still bound.
The Taliban have not yet commented on these allegations, and the claims have not been independently verified.
