Two credible sources say that late last night, the Taliban raided the homes of several former government forces in the Aino Mina One area, located in the 15th district of Kandahar city, and broke down the doors of their houses.
According to the sources, the Taliban searched the homes on suspicion that weapons were being kept there. However, no information has so far been released about the outcome of the operation, whether any weapons were found, or whether anyone was arrested.
The sources add that over the past two days, there have also been reports of Taliban searches and raids on the homes of former security force members in some areas of Kandahar’s Panjwai district.
Since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan, human rights organizations and various sources have reported cases of the arrest, torture, and killing of members of the former republic’s security and defense forces.
The Taliban generally cite security concerns and efforts to locate illegal weapons as the reasons for conducting such operations.
