Local sources said on Monday that 30 employees of the Badakhshan Provincial Revenue Office collectively resigned in protest against what they described as “mistreatment, insults, and persistent threats” by Mawlawi Gul Ahmad, the Taliban-appointed head of the office in the province.
According to the sources, the Taliban official had repeatedly threatened the employees and subjected them to insults and verbal abuse.
The sources did not provide further details about specific instances of threats or insults, or how the dispute between the Taliban official and the employees of the Badakhshan Provincial Revenue Office began.
It also remains unclear what impact the mass resignation will have on the operations and functioning of the Badakhshan Provincial Revenue Office.
The Taliban authorities in Badakhshan have not yet commented on the mass resignation or the allegations made against the province’s revenue chief.
