In the Qambar Square area of Kabul city, Haji Naqibullah Alikhil, a fuel and gas trader, was shot and killed by an armed Taliban soldier.
A relative of the slain businessman said the incident occurred on August 25 at around 10 p.m. in the Zorabad Family area, near the Marshal Fahim Military University.
According to the source, the incident occurred after Haji Naqibullah’s gas tanker collided with another tanker. Following the collision, a verbal altercation broke out between the drivers of the two vehicles.
The businessman’s relative alleged that following the dispute, the commander of the security checkpoint at Marshal Fahim Military University stood in front of Haji Naqibullah’s vehicle and ordered him to get out.
According to the source, when Haji Naqibullah stepped out of the vehicle, an armed member of the checkpoint wearing a Taliban army military uniform emerged and, without any verbal exchange, shot him in the head with an M4 rifle from a distance of approximately three to four meters, killing him.
The Taliban have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident or clarified their position on how the incident occurred.
