According to a Reuters report, a U.S.-registered military transport aircraft flew directly from Riga, the capital of Latvia, to Moscow, the capital of Russia, and landed at Vnukovo Airport.
According to flight-tracking service Flightradar24, a Boeing C-17 Globemaster aircraft bearing the number 07-7181 flew from Riga to Moscow on Tuesday and landed at the Russian capital’s airport at around 7:00 a.m. GMT.
Reuters said it was unable to independently verify whether the aircraft was carrying passengers or cargo. The Kremlin also said it had no information about the aircraft.
According to Flightradar24 data, the aircraft had flown from Camp Springs, a military base near Washington, D.C., to Riga on August 23.
This comes after U.S.-registered aircraft flying from Europe to Russia transported U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Russia in January this year. The Kremlin said last week that it had no information at that time about a possible new trip to Moscow by Witkoff and Kushner.
