Afghanistan secured a three-wicket victory over Ireland in the third match of their five-match One Day International (ODI) series, thereby also securing direct qualification for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
Ireland posted a total of 206 runs in their first innings, setting Afghanistan a target of 207. Afghanistan successfully chased down the target in the 45th over, losing seven wickets in the process.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz played a key role in Afghanistan’s victory, top-scoring for his team with 71 runs.
With this victory, Afghanistan avoided the World Cup qualification stage and officially secured their place in the 2027 Cricket World Cup.
The fourth match between the two sides is scheduled to be played next Wednesday.
